How to make a Glühwein & Proper Tea
Recipe by David Rickenback
Calling all lovers of festive drinks! This mocktail creation by David Rickenback, Coffee Beverage Community Expert at Victoria Arduino, will be right up your street. Using our Amba Ceylon Chai as the base, the result is a beautifully spiced winter warmer, perfect for the festive period.
A Note from David:
The drink was inspired by Glühwein at German Christmas Markets. After I tasted the Ceylon Chai, I thought by adding some citrus and recreating the body of wine we could make a non-alcoholic version where the tea really took centre stage. Cranberry and grape juice combine really well to not overpower the tea.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED (per drink)
- 5g Amba Ceylon Chai (or you can use any strong black tea to make your own Chai concentrate)
- 250ml water
-
20ml cranberry juice
-
20ml grape juice (David used Merlot grape juice, but you can use any type)
- 1 orange
- Vanilla extract
-
5ml sugar syrup (optional)
METHOD
- Steep 5g of Amba Ceylon Chai to infuse in 250ml of boiling (100°C) water for 4-5 minutes.
- Add a fresh orange slice a couple of drops of vanilla extract then allow time to cool.
